Feeling Self-Conscious About Your Smile?

If you have noticed a change in your smile or your teeth appear longer than they used to, you may be experiencing effects of gum recession. Gum recession can be embarrassing but can also put your oral health at risk. When the gum tissue recedes, tooth roots are left exposed leaving them more susceptible to disease and damage. Dr. John Thousand offers two techniques to correct gum recession, time-tested gum grafting and the modern tunnel technique, both to restore your smile to its former beauty.

How a Gum Graft Procedure is Performed

Gum grafting is an effective and time-tested form of treatment for gum recession. We are able to restore your gums to healthy levels around your teeth and dental implants. By using your own tissue from another area in your mouth or with donor tissue, Dr. Thousand will cover the areas of recession to create a healthier, even appearance. We are skilled in gum grafting techniques to ensure you get your ideal results the first time. We also offer sedation options for those who experience anxiety, to provide painless and anxiety-free appointments.

Minimally Invasive Tunnel Technique

We also offer an effective and minimally invasive approach to gum grafting called the tunnel technique. This procedure involves no incisions, reduces tooth sensitivity, and gives you improved appearance and gum health. Here, Dr. Thousand carefully creates a “tunnel” or space between your teeth and gums where grafting tissue is added. This will cover the exposed areas and foster a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment.

Grafting and Tunnel Technique Benefits

  • Reduced tooth sensitivity
  • Halts further gum recession
  • Healthier teeth and implants
